Why Is Less More?

"More" has become exhausting.

More exercise. More stretching. More discipline. More things we know we should be doing but somehow never quite manage to keep up with.

The problem with "more" is that it often asks us to become a different person overnight. The expectations are so high that we feel like we've failed before we've even begun.

Real change rarely happens that way.

Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® is a "yes...and..." approach to change.

I can be fit and do less.

I can be healthy and still have an injury.

I can have a body that is changing with time and still feel vital, capable and active.

I can become stronger without pushing harder.

I can have more gain with less pain.

Instead of focusing on fitness first, we focus on function. Because when movement becomes enjoyable, easy and efficient, power, flexibility and confidence follow naturally.

Progress isn't measured by how hard you've worked or how much you've suffered. It's measured by what you can feel.

Less stiffness.

Walking taller.

More confidence.

More energy.

A sense that your body is working with you, not against you.

Small changes become real wins. Real wins build momentum.

Less isn't about lowering your expectations. It's about choosing a smarter path forward.

Less isn't giving up.

Less is more.

More function. More confidence. More freedom.

More gain with less pain.

Please Come and Lie on Your Mat is the practical "yes...and..." movement solution.

At home. In your own time. At your own pace.

Repeat the lessons as often as you need. No special equipment required. No pressure to keep up. No need to push through.

For less than the cost of a typical mat class each month, you'll have access to a library of guided Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons designed to help you feel powerful and confident in your body.

A place to build trust in yourself again.

To discover what your body can do, not what it can't.

To experience more gain, with less pain.

Audio Lessons

The lessons are audio recordings rather than videos.

This is very deliberate.

In the Feldenkrais Method, the aim is not to copy a teacher's movements or try to get things "right". Instead, the lessons are designed to bring your attention to your own experience of movement.

By listening rather than watching, you have the opportunity to feel what you are doing from the inside.

How you interpret the instructions is part of the learning process.

There is no perfect version of the movement that you need to achieve.

You don't need to be flexible, coordinated, or experienced. You simply follow along as best you can. I'll often describe the same movement in several different ways, giving you time and space to find your own understanding.

The learning comes through exploration, not imitation.

Lessons Based on Real Human Movement

Each lesson explores a particular movement theme or movement pattern.

Movement patterns are the fundamental actions that make up everyday life and human activity.

These include things like:

  • Rolling and turning in bed

  • Sitting and standing

  • Squatting

  • Bending over

  • Looking behind you

  • Reaching

  • Walking

  • Touching your toes

  • Shaving your legs

  • Putting on your socks

The same principles apply to more complex activities too.

Running is a movement pattern.

Swimming is a movement pattern.

Sport is built from movement patterns.

That's one of the joys of this work.

Very often, I will teach the same lesson to an athlete looking to improve performance as I would to someone recovering from injury or wanting to move with less discomfort.

Patterns are patterns.

When we improve the quality of the underlying movement, the benefits can show up in all sorts of unexpected places.

Finding Your Way Around the Library

There is no set order in which you need to do the lessons.

One approach is simply to browse the lesson titles and choose whatever sparks your curiosity. Often the lesson that catches your attention is exactly the right place to begin.

You can also read the lesson descriptions for a little more detail about the movements, themes, or areas of interest explored in each lesson.

Another way to choose is by the position used during the lesson.

Some lessons take place entirely lying on your back. Others move between side-lying, sitting, standing, or walking. Some lessons are done lying on your front.

Depending on your level of comfort, mobility, or energy, you can choose the orientation that feels most accessible for you on that particular day.

There is no best place to start.

The important thing is to begin somewhere and allow your curiosity to guide you.

New Lessons Added Weekly

The library continues to grow, with new lessons recorded and uploaded each week whenever possible.

Some lessons focus on specific areas such as the neck, shoulders, back, hips, or breathing. Others explore broader themes such as balance, coordination, ease, and learning.

Over time, this creates a rich collection of lessons that you can explore and revisit whenever you like.

Learn in Your Own Time

There are no schedules to follow and no pressure to keep up.

You can dip in for ten minutes, spend an hour exploring a longer lesson, or revisit a favourite recording whenever you feel drawn to it.

Many people discover that repeating a lesson can be just as valuable as doing a new one. Often you'll notice something completely different the second, third, or tenth time around.

Notes, Reflections and Ideas

Alongside the lessons, I'll occasionally share reflections on the Feldenkrais Method, movement, learning, and the art of paying attention.

A Resource You Can Return To Again and Again

Unlike many movement programmes, Feldenkrais lessons often reveal something new each time you do them.

The library isn't simply a collection of recordings.

It's a place to slow down, become curious, and continue learning about yourself through movement.
